Community Impact

The Half Way House GAA facilities at Church Road have become a linchpin for community wellbeing, sport and social cohesion in Bunclody and surrounding areas. With a floodlit walking track weaving around the grounds, local people of all ages—morning walkers, families after school, older adults—use it daily as a safe, social, traffic-free space for fitness and conversation.

The indoor hall and well kept pitches are in constant demand. Primary schools — Our Lady of Lourdes NS (Bunclody), Carrigduff NS, Kilmyshall NS, and our secondary schools both the FCJ Secondary School and the Bunclody Community College — regularly book sessions for PE classes, Hurling 365, coaching days, seasonal blitzes and multi-school contests. The access to indoor facilities ensures that even in inclement weather, children can run, jump and interact in safe, supervised settings. This consistent exposure helps foster habits of movement and healthy play from early years.

Sports Active Wexford

Sports Active Wexford complements these efforts through inclusive outreach programmes, for example roadshows like "Fun in the Sun" take place in Church Road, lowering barriers for participation and raising awareness of local club offerings.

Racing 795 Athletic Club

Our local athletic and adventure club Racing 795, use the facilities for training sessions.

HSE Psychosocial Sports Programme

In a further boost to community mental health and inclusion, the HSE psychosocial sports intervention programme launched in our facility and aims to use sport as a vehicle for psychosocial support, engagement and recovery. By embedding structured, therapeutic sport and physical activity opportunities in community settings, the programme was launched in our facility, it amplifies reach, reducing isolation, and helping individuals build social support through shared exercise and team settings.

Darkness into Light

Darkness into Light Bunclody uses our facilities as their base for their very successful walk.

Community Campus

In sum, our facilities at Church Road aren't merely just "a pitch and hall"—it's a living community campus. Schools, health services, clubs, charities and families converge there. Children build skills, adults build support networks, and the community measures its strength in steps on the track, passes on the pitch, and smiles in the hall.
